Butterfly Development - South Kingsville

This project is an artistic interpretation of butterflies applied to the ‘built environment’. The neighbourhood character is essentially postmodern architecture with existing homes rejuvenated or contemporary homes designed The client brief was to sub-divide the land and create a modern multi-unit site with one of the units to be designed as a family home. The client wanted to entertain guests and have well has zoned spaces to segregate private, semiprivate, and public spaces.
Design Features
- The facade of the apartment is designed like the face of a butterfly and the facade imprints digitally printed summer Elm leaves which gives a distinctive look
- The entertainment living space features double-height volume which is divided by a walkway bridge connecting the private master bedroom and the open rumpus room
- The living area is designed most distinctively by adding vast double-height glass walls facing towards the northeast. This unique concept improved the overall light quality specifically in the narrow spaces
