The Architectural Process
- Vital steps our architects take to transform early sketches into reality:
- How does a sketch become a building? It's not magic! it’s our architects who come up with creative ideas and through complex thinking, the project breaks down into different stages.
Engagement
Architectural engagement is a detailed evaluation of interrelated values, goals, facts as well as the needs of the client’s family as well as the surrounding area. A well-planned engagement and programming lead to high-quality design. During this stage, our architect considers your ideas and needs and also gathers information on your building site or existing home (If you’re planning for a renovation). This creates a relationship between the architect and the owner to conceptualise a final building.
Schematic Design
Why is a preliminary evaluation of the program important? Once the requirement of the project is framed via the engagement and programming process, the Pre-Design phase begins. Our architect gives a complete rough shape to your vision. During this process, a sketch is designed keeping in mind the discussion and construction budget provided by the owner. Once the illustration of the project is ready, it’s reviewed by the owner. During this phase, the owner’s inputs are vital or a detailed blueprint is generated to establish a clear decision-making process with the architect.
Concept Design
How systems, material selection and preliminary structure is done? This is the actual stage of design development as per the rough sketch designed in the previous stage. In this process, the architect works on transforming the design of a project from the realm of ideas to physical design. The design is given a final stage with discussion with consultants and team members. Our architect will prepare to scale, floor plans and building elevations for initial review and approval. Once the designs are approved significant changes cannot be done and may warrant additional fees. Hence it is important to take maximum time with the architect and have the conceptual design created.
Construction Design
Yes, this is again a design process, the architect creates drawing which is perfect for permit submittal and construction. These drawings and designs are for communication with the team which will be involved in the overall construction of the building or house. During this process, the architect will interface with consultants like engineers, interior design, landscape, lighting as well as HVAC. The architect sees to it that the complete project is coordinated well to deliver a high-class result.
Selection of Builders and Contractors: Who you are working with & what you’ve previously agreed upon?
The designing process is a creative problem-solving aspect which helps in transforming ideas and visions to a dimensional reality of the project. Once this process is complete the architect gets involved in how the building will be constructed as per your demands and approvals. We and our architect get in the builder selection process to connect you with the best builder available in the region. During the process, we do a detailed analysis of the overall value of the builder, experience as well as appropriateness for the project.
