This house embodies an organic, biophilic architectural philosophy that celebrates natural forms, environmental sustainability, and innovative aesthetics. This project is an artistic interpretation of butterflies inspired to create a harmonious, dynamic living environment that respects and enhances its natural surroundings, making architecture a celebration of nature’s beauty and resilience.
The neighbourhood character is essentially postmodern architecture with existing homes rejuvenated or contemporary homes designed The client brief was to sub-divide the land and create a modern multi-unit site with one of the units to be designed as a family home. The client wanted to entertain guests and have well zoned spaces to segregate private, semiprivate, and public spaces.
Design Features
- The facade of the apartment is designed like the face of a butterfly and the facade imprints digitally printed summer Elm leaves which gives a distinctive look
- The entertainment living space features double-height volume which is divided by a walkway bridge connecting the private master bedroom and the open rumpus room
The living area is designed most distinctively by adding vast double-height glass walls facing towards the northeast. This unique concept improved the overall light quality specifically in the narrow space
